Stop going on strike and work for once
Train workers going on strike is a joke. You get paid more than average but do little to no work at all. Actually start working and having trains and then I might have some sympathy for you. But your wage does not match your efforts. Get to work for once
Train Failed To Stop
Zero stars would be more appropriate for this rating. Much to the surprise of station staff and waiting passengers on Platform 2 at Manchester Oxford Road on Sunday 17th August the 12:34 to Lancaster failed to stop. No reasons, no explanations or apologies. Makes you wonder if TPE are fit to operate if they are not capable of following their own timetable!
Leeds to Manchester Airport
Leeds to Manchester Airport. Standing room only with only 3 carriages turning up at start of holiday season. Would suggest they offer a discount if you have to stand for 2 hours?

It's shocking to see the level of unreliability of this service. I want to book a train from Manchester airport to Northallerton but there is a warning sign next to every train stating 'subject to short notice cancellation'. What kind of country is England? It seems to be rapidly going in the direction of a 3rd world or developing country.

Only because I cant give Zero
Only because I cant give Zero. Terrible service refuses to refund me although they cancelled my trip and left me stranded at a different station.

Thank god I’m heading to London today from Thirsk and not Manchester - trains cancelled again due shortage of staff. Hard to imagine how the service could be any worse as virtually non existent

Great 2 days out on the trans pennine express to york and scarborough
I purchased a return ticket from st helens to scarborough via york, using my trainline app, which I love using (and don't understand why there are bad reviews about the trainline app on my phone).
I went alone, as the wife does not like trains, and after my great experience, she wishes she had come with me now. Using the trainline app, I picked the cheapest there and back, making sure that only 1 change would be needed, and what a thoroughly enjoyable journey it was. It makes being stood still on the M6 motorway for hours something of the past for me.
As soon as I boarded the trans pennine express inititally to York and then onto Scarborough, I could not believe the views, and the comfy seats, and was shocked with delight when I even noticed a drinks and food trolley being bought down the carriage. As I sat there, on the great journey, the ride was whisper free, there was internet on the train if needed, and even more impressive, if you had reserved a seat, your seat number and destination (not your name) were shown on a display above the seat. My journey there was very quiet, so I could have picked any seat to be honest (the ones that show a green display - these are unreserved), and on the one way back the next day (late), it was fun too, as a load of women got on the train singing Barry Manilow tunes, (they had clearly been to a Barry Manilow concert at the Manchester Victoria Stop). Overall, I have defonately convinced the wife to come on a train now, I think it was down to the views, the comfort and a glass of wine / food from the drinks trolley. Give it a go, forget the car, this was so much more fun.

Good Communication
Had my train delayed and then cancelled, although it caused some inconvenience the communication from the company was superb and I was refunded for my train quickly. Very happy with this as not many train companys these days seem to prioritise high quality customer service.

Trains often cancelled at short notice…
Trains often cancelled at short notice (even when on the platform) without any alternative transport being arranged, leaving passengers stranded. TransPennine seem to routinely cancel or run shortened services on dozens of scheduled services every day, which should be of concern to the rail regulators, if not their management. The fact that 84% of the other reviewers on this site have also chosen to give TransPeninne the the lowest possible rating doesn't surprise me.

The worst of the worst
The worst of the worst. If any other sector provided a service as shockingly unreliable as this company no one would choose to give it their hard earned cash. They leave hundreds stranded for hours at just 20 mins notice. When the trains do run, they are frequently late. And after providing an awful service most of the conductors then have the audacity to operate on a guilty until proven innocent basis for tickets that are an extortion.
You get the picture, I absolutely hate that these are my only option and resent having to give them money for all the times they have let me and my loved ones down.
Avoid at all costs
Useless....never on time and always cancelling services!!!
Today stuck at Crowle...been 20 mins and no information!!
Will never ever use again,if you can avoid using them then do so
